Lockerbie – Three Decades of Lies: J’Accuse…!

“If there is no such thing as ‘the Truth’ about the past, and therefore, a fortiori, if there is no obligation to seek such truth, we are left only with clashing opinions. (…) But, if there is such a thing as the ‘Truth’ about the past, and if one party claims to possess it, yet without sufficient grounds, the possibility remains of questioning that claim and showing it to be mistaken or inadequate.”

Miroslav Volf — The End of Memory

“The right to search for the truth implies also a duty. One must not conceal any part of what one has recognized to be the truth.”

Albert Einstein

“U.S. Department of State has authorized a reward of up to $5 million for information leading to the arrest and/or conviction of those responsible for the bombing of Pan Am Flight 103 and the murders of the 270 victims.”

Rewards for Justice [retrieved May 11 2020]

May 11 2020 – Over the last two decades, I have written over a hundred pieces about the Lockerbie tragedy. In recent years, many people have asked me to write just a short story that summarizes my thoughts on this affair. This master of procrastination has always managed to avoid this painful task… Until today. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Animal Spies & Warriors — Operation Acoustic Kitty [PARODY]

“They slit the cat open, put batteries in him, wired him up. The tail was used as an antenna. They made a monstrosity. They tested him, and tested him. They found he would walk off the job when he got hungry, so they put another wire in to override that. Finally, they are ready. They took it out to a park bench and said: ‘Listen to those two guys. Don’t listen to anything else – not the birds, no cat or dog – just those two guys!’ (…) They put him out of the van, and a taxi comes and runs him over. There they were, sitting in the van with all those dials, and the cat was dead.”

Victor Marchetti — Special assistant to the Deputy Director of the CIA

“The environmental and security factors in using this technique in a real foreign situation force us to conclude that for our (intelligence) purposes, it would not be practical.”

CIA Project Acoustic Kitty — Final Report

May 10 2020 — Thank God, It is Parody Sunday! Acoustic Kitty was a CIA project launched by the Central Intelligence Agency Directorate of Science & Technology, which in the 1960’s intended to use cats to spy on the Kremlin and Soviet embassies. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_TODAY Continue reading

Anna Loginova (September 3 1978 – January 27  2008) was described as Russia’s most famous female bodyguard. Her killer has never been identified.

Remembering Olof Palme (January 30 1927 – February 28 1986) [UPDATE]

“This is an open wound in Swedish society. It is extremely important that this is solved.”

Sweden Prime Minister Stefan Lofven (May 2018)

“The Anti Apartheid Conference in Stockholm, it is suggested by our Swedish Sources in Uppsala, would present the ideal opportunity to take the necessary action against Mr. Palme and it would be possible to ensure that the action be attributed to other groups.”

South Africa Military Intelligence Report (October 15 1985)

“Reading and thinking about Palme makes you wonder who you are. And who you might have been, but weren’t. And where your moral courage went when it was needed. You ask yourself what power drove him – golden boy, aristocratic family, brilliant scion of the best schools and the best cavalry regiment – to embrace from the outset of his career the cause of the exploited, the deprived, the undervalued and the unheard?”

David Cornwell (John le Carré ) — Olof Palme Award acceptance speech (January 30 2020)

February 28 2019 — The murder of Prime Minister Olof Palme on February 28 1986 shocked Sweden and had a great impact across Scandinavia. If we can solve today the mystery of the 1961 murder of UN Secretary Dag Hammarskjold, then surely we must be able to identify the killer(s) of Prime Minister Olof Palme. On This Day — USAF Bombs Chinese Embassy in Belgrade (May 7 1999) [2020]

“The attack was a mistake. Let me emphasise our investigation has determined that no one, and I repeat, no one knowingly targeted the Chinese Embassy. Speculation to the contrary is simply unfounded. No one at any stage in the process realised that our bombs were aimed at the Chinese Embassy.”

CIA Director George Tenet

“We are very dependent on databases and the accuracy of those databases. And clearly, we didn’t have accurate databases here. I find it embarrassing that we didn’t have in our databases the precise location of the Chinese Embassy. And that did contribute to this failure where we didn’t catch the mistake and possibly could have. We know that now and we’re going to have to prevent that in the future.”

Deputy Defense Secretary John Hamre

On May 7, 1999, during the NATO bombing of Yugoslavia (Operation Allied Force), five US Joint Direct Attack Munition guided bombs hit the People’s Republic of China embassy in the Belgrade district of New Belgrade, killing three Chinese journalists. Lessons of History — French President Charles de Gaulle : “The word of the president of the United States is good enough for me.”

“History is determined not just by the so-called rational actors, the men (or women) in suits, the bureaucrats and the top military brass. ‘Irrational actors’ – people who stumble onto the stage by chance and change the course of history – also play a role.”

One Minute to Midnight — Michael Dobbs

“There is always some son-of-a-bitch who does not get the word.”

John F. Kennedy (October 1962)

French President Charles de Gaulle and Jacqueline Kennedy

May 6 2020 — In October 1962, the U.S. claimed that the Soviets had installed offensive nuclear missiles in Cuba. This was a very dangerous moment in modern history. The United States and the Soviet Union were on the brink of World War III. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Three Years Ago — The True Story of Dr A. Q. Khan’s Nuclear Black Market

“Our accomplishments generally remain classified, but a few special ones are known to the world.”

CIA Director Mike Pompeo (April 13 2017)

“I was the CIA director. We lied, we cheated, we stole. It’s – it was like – we had entire training courses. It reminds you of the glory of the American experiment.”

Former CIA Director Mike Pompeo — Texas A&M University (April 15, 2019)

“There have been only two kinds of CIA secret operations: the ones that are widely known to have failed—usually because of almost unbelievably crude errors—and the ones that are not yet widely known to have failed.”

Edward Luttwak

Dr A. Q. Khan

May 3 2017 — In his first public speech, CIA Director Mike Pompeo told his audience that one the CIA’s great successes was to shut down the A. Q. Khan’s nuclear network. As often with Mike Pompeo, that statement needs a bit of “Facts Checking”. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading
