“Diversity carries special importance here at CIA. Because of our global charter, we need talent from all cultures and backgrounds to accomplish our mission. CIA must be an employer of choice for all Americans who want to serve our country, a place where officers of every description can rise as far as their talent and ambition can take them.”

NORTH KOREA Claims to Have Successfully Tested H-Bomb [First estimate of the Yield]

“The institute recently succeeded in making a more developed nuke. Kim Jong-un watched an H-bomb to be loaded into a new ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile).”

KCNA — North Korea State News Agency

Sunday September 3 2017

North Korea said on Sunday it has developed a more advanced nuclear weapon that has “great destructive power” and leader Kim Jong Un inspected a hydrogen bomb that will be loaded on a new intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). Considering the magnitude of the event as reported by the US Geological Survey,  I have estimated the yield of the device at about 126.8 kilotons of TNT equivalent. However the estimate based on the data reported by South Korea is much lower. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

The KRYPTOS Sculpture — SECTION III: A Transposition Cipher

With trembling hands, I made a tiny breach in the upper left hand corner… widening the hole a little, I inserted the candle and peered in… at first I could see nothing, the hot air escaping from the chamber causing the candle to flicker. Presently, details of the room emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues and gold – everywhere the glint of gold. For the moment – an eternity it must have seemed to the others standing by – I was struck dumb with amazement, and when Lord Carnarvon, unable to stand in suspense any longer, inquired anxiously “Can you see anything?”, it was all I could do to get out the words “Yes, wonderful things”.

Howard Carter — The Tomb of Tutankhamen

Diary — November 26 1922

In a previous post, we looked at the inside story of the NSA people who took the challenge to decrypt — part of — the KRYPTOS code. I will tell you later how the NSA people broke Section III but today I will present you a novel and rather unusual solution.

Why? Because I have great doubts that Sanborn — an artist — has used complex mathematical transformation to code Section III. Who cares? Does it matter anyway?

One would think that as long as the solution is correct, the method used to get it is irrelevant. One could be wrong. The devil IS in the details.

PS: This post will soon be updated to explain carefully several technical points. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

One Year Ago — CZECH REPUBLIC INTELLIGENCE AGENCY : ANNUAL REPORT 2015

“Since the second quarter of 2014, Europe has been facing a large migration wave from the Middle East, Sub-Saharan Africa and Maghreb. In 2015, more than a million refugees arrived in Europe. Their arrival had a negative impact on public order and on security and administrative procedures both in countries along the main migration routes and in destination countries. The Czech Republic is located in a heavily transited area of Central Europe and is faced by the same migration threats as France, Belgium and Germany.”

Reagan tells Soviet jokes

Whoever does not miss the Soviet Union has no heart. Whoever wants it back has no brain.”

Vladimir Putin

When everything seems to be out of control in our society, we certainly can all use a good laugh. Putin is certainly a “Badass” President but he also can be quite funny when he wants to be. However, when it comes to tell a geopolitical joke, Reagan’s skill is unmatched. Enjoy these few ones and have a great weekend! Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Suspicious Aviation Tragedies: Korean Airliner Flight 007

“Governments lie. They do it all the time. And, much as we’d like to believe otherwise, the US government is no exception. There were times when we may have believed otherwise. But after Vietnam and Watergate, we know better.”

US Journalist Ted Koppel — “The USS Vincennes: Public War, Secret War.” – July 1st 1992 —  ABC News

“The moral of the story [Korean Airliner Flight 007] is that all governments, including our own, lie when it suits their purposes. The key is to lie first. (…) The story of KE-007 will be remembered pretty much the way the Americans told it in 1983 and not the way it really happened.”

Alvin A. Snyder — Warriors of Disinformation

KE007-2

Korean Air Lines Flight 007 (also known as KAL007) was a scheduled Korean Air Lines flight from New York City to Seoul. On September 1, 1983, the airliner serving the flight was shot down by a Soviet Su-15 interceptor, near Moneron Island west of Sakhalin in the Sea of Japan. The interceptor’s pilot was Major Gennadi Osipovich. All 269 passengers and crew aboard were killed. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading
