Fake News & Disinformation — Ukraine Condemned for Faking Arkady Babchenko’s Murder

“Reporters Without Borders expresses its sharp indignation on learning of the Ukrainian secret service’s manipulation carried out as part of an information war. It is always very dangerous for states to play with facts and especially on the backs of journalists.”

Christophe Deloire — Head of ‘Reporters Without Borders’

“Next time a journalist is killed in Ukraine (and, unfortunately, it seems certain that there will be a next time), even the least cynical observers, the kinds of people who wept all night over Babchenko’s supposed death, will likely wonder whether they should believe in a tragic death until they’ve inspected the corpse themselves. Conspiracy theories thrive on this kind of corrosive scepticism. Some Ukrainian commentators have been crowing that no one will be able to smear the Ukrainian security services after this brilliant victory. In fact, the Ukrainian authorities have done a magnificent job of smearing themselves.”

Sophie Pinkham — Author of Black Square: Adventures in Post-Soviet Ukraine

“I would have thought it was impossible to come up with a “frame Putin” story more implausible than the Skripals. But Christ, have they managed it with Babchenko fake death!”

Former UK Ambassador Craig Murray

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko (left) met Arkady Babchenko at the News Conference

May 31 2018 — Ukrainian authorities are being sharply criticised for faking the murder of a Russian dissident journalist in Kiev.  This irresponsible stunt has totally undermined Ukraine’s credibility. The hoax is an insult to the memory of all great journalists who were assassinated. By engaging in a disinformation war, the Ukrainian authorities have gravely and irreversibly harmed the credibility of information. How will the public react next time a journalist is reported murdered? Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

Egypt — Who Tortured Giulio Regeni to Death? And Why?

“On 7 January 2016, just a month after the union meeting, Mohamed Abdallah denounced Regeni to the authorities (…) because his questions were not about street vendors … and had other intentions. The Egyptian government placed Regeni under investigation, but decided after a few days that his research was of no interest to National Security.”

The Guardian (October 4 2016)

“What also has become clear is that Giulio had for months attracted the attention of Egypt’s state apparatus, which continued in an increasingly pressing way until 25 January.”

Rome prosecutor Giuseppe Pignatone (January 25 2018)

Giulio Regeni

The death of this young man shocked and outraged Italians. Giulio Regeni was an Italian student who went missing in Cairo after speaking to trade union and opposition activists. His mutilated body was later found on the side of the road. He appeared to have been horribly tortured. Why was he murdered? Why a botched investigation? Was he a spy? For whom? Fake News & Disinformation — Murdered Kremlin Critic Feeling Good

“I can understand perfectly how the report of my illness got about, I have even heard on good authority that I was dead. James Ross Clemens, a cousin of mine, was seriously ill two or three weeks ago in London, but is well now. The report of my illness grew out of his illness. The report of my death was an exaggeration.”

Mark Twain — Letter (May 31 1897)

“I am confident that the Russian totalitarian machine did not forgive him [Arkady Babchenko] his honesty and principled stance.”

Ukraine’s Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman

May 30 2018 — Kremlin critic Arkady Babchenko, who was reported to have been shot dead, has appeared reasonably alive at a news conference today. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

One Year Ago — The long history of CIA involvement in the international narcotics trade — [Documentary]

“US officials in Central America failed to address this drug issue for fear of jeopardising the war efforts against Nicaragua … and senior US policymakers were not immune to the idea that drug money was a perfect solution to the Contras’ funding problems.”

FBI PSA : “Think Before You Post” — FLASHBACK : “The Helsinki Warning”

“And he comes in early the next morning, 6 o’clock the next morning, and there is, obviously, confusion and concern. And he is asked to do a number of things. And he is asked to work on Weber’s desk with his computer. And he looks down and sees the Helsinki warning on Weber’s desk. And he goes crazy. And he says what is this?

And Weber says: Oh, my God, don’t worry, don’t worry, it’s nothing, forget it.

So Koch says, how can I forget it? This is a warning of a potential bomb. It is my job.

Just forget it. Be quiet or you will get in trouble.”

Washington Post — “Helsinki Warning: Timely or Buried?”

“There was a real push in the embassy community to make sure that everybody was aware that there had been a terrorist threat made, and that people flying Western carriers going through Frankfurt should change their tickets.”

Karen Decker, Consular Official at the Moscow US Embassy – ABC, Nov. 30 1989

“Perhaps life in war-torn Beirut had made them [CIA McKee and Gannon] used to terror risks. Perhaps they figured to themselves that their superiors would not have allowed them to travel if the flight was at serious risk. Had they known that within the past three weeks, there had been a number of strong indications that radical Palestinians were planning to attack Pan Am, they would most surely have chosen another airline.”

John Ashton and Ian Fergusson – Cover Up of Convenience

“The Helsinki Warning was totally investigated after the bombing and we determined as fact that it was not a credible threat based on who made the threat.”

Richard Marquise – Former FBI agent and head of the Pan Am 103 Bombing Investigation (Communication to the author)

“At the end of the Commission findings, you will see that we looked at the total history of passenger bookings for Pan Am 103 and they were the same for years. No one was warned off the plane.”

Frank Duggan — (Communication to the author)

The FBI is reminding the public to “Think Before You Post” hoax threats targeting schools and other public places. It’s not a joke. It is a federal crime.

On December 5, 1988, a man speaking with an Arabic accent telephoned the US Embassy in Helsinki, Finland. The informant said that a Pan Am flight from Frankfurt to the United States would be blown up within the next two weeks. On December 21, 1988, Pan Am 103 exploded over Lockerbie. Pan Am 103A — its feeder flight — originated from Frankfurt. The warning was dismissed as a hoax.

The FBI concluded that the ‘culprit’ had done it to impress his girlfriend. Actually, the suspect was never indicted because sufficient evidence could not be assembled. If there was not enough evidence to indict, let alone convict, Samra Mahayou for the hoax, where was the evidence to dismiss the warning as one? Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

Breaking NEWS — Three Killed in Belgium Shooting

“There are elements that point in the direction that this is a terrorist act.”

Eric Van Der Sypt — Spokesman for the Belgian federal prosecutor’s office

“The question of whether this man should have been given leave is striking because he killed three completely innocent people with a wish to kill himself. I feel responsible because I have responsibility for prisons.”

Koen Geens  — Belgian Justice Minister

Soraya Belkacemi, left, and Lucile Garcia were named as the two police officers killed in the attack

On This Day — Happy Birthday to Ian Fleming (May 28 1908 – August 12 1964)

“Fleming found he had a love for espionage, and combined with his support for all things British, provided purpose to his life. But after WWII ended, he found himself at loose ends, and took a job with a newspaper. He hated the drudgery that went with the position, and often found himself daydreaming while admiring a picture of Jamaica near his desk. After several vacations to the island, he decided to move there permanently and, drawing on his family’s income, built a home for himself. He called it ‘Goldeneye.’ Fleming told friends he had always wanted to write a spy novel…and now with time on his hands, he did exactly that.”

“Ian Fleming: The Man Behind the Most Famous Spy — CIA Website (May 2018)

During location filming in Jamaica, Ian Fleming gives Sean Connery some first-hand pointers.

Ian Lancaster Fleming was an English author, journalist and naval intelligence officer who is best known for his James Bond series of spy novels. Before writing the series, Fleming authored some fantastic disinformation pieces during WWII.

“Operation Mincemeat” is a true masterpiece! They really knew how to write ‘Fake News’ back then! In comparison, the amateurs who wrote the script of the “Skripal Affair” should be ashamed of themselves. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

UK — Is the Father of the Manchester Bomber a MI6 Asset?

“The revelation that the British government likely had contacts with the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group (LIFG) and the 17 February Martyrs Brigade during the 2011 war in Libya – groups for which the 2017 Manchester bomber and his father reportedly fought at that time – raises fundamental questions about the UK’s links to terrorism. Indeed, a strong case can be made for a devastating conclusion: that the UK is itself a de facto part of the terrorist infrastructure that poses a threat to the British public.”

Mark Curtis — Historian and analyst of UK foreign policy

“The Libyan Fighting Group (…) has been recruiting Libyan and Muslim youth in the UK and Europe and sending them to Libya and other countries to deliver terrorism and death. The previous British government has been pressuring in every way possible the prevalence of these groups and their control of Libya.”

General Khalifa Haftar –Tobruk-led Libyan Government

Astonishingly, despite suspicions that he was a high-level al-Qaeda operative, al-Liby was given political asylum in Britain and lived in Manchester until May of 2000 when he eluded a police raid on his house and fled abroad. The raid discovered a 180-page al-Qaeda ‘manual for jihad’ containing instructions for terrorist attacks.”

The Guardian (November 2002)

“To the civilians suffering the blowback of covert operations, the effect typically manifests itself as “random” acts of political violence without a discernible, direct cause; because the public—in whose name the intelligence agency acted—are unaware of the effected secret attacks that provoked revenge (counter-attack) against them.”

Chalmers Johnson — The Nation (September 2001)

Ramadan Abedi — The Manchester bomber’s father fought against Gaddafi regime with the LIFG terrorist group

Is Ramadan Abedi — the father of Salman Abedi aka the Manchester Arena bomber — a MI6 asset? Specifically, is he the Libyan person known to MI6 as ‘Tunworth’ to whom they once paid large amounts of money to assassinate Gaddafi in 1996? Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

One Year Ago — Israel Modifies Intelligence-Sharing Protocols with US after Trump’s Leak

“Intelligence cooperation [with the US] is terrific. It’s never been better.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (May 2017)

“Before he [Donald Trump] makes any decision, he posts on Twitter. He tweets and then checks the responses in order to make his decision. Is that how you run a country?”  That’s not how you run a corner store.”
