Was Nobel Prize Pablo Neruda a KGB Agent? [UPDATE]

“Neruda is the greatest poet of the 20th century in any language”

Gabriel García Márquez — Nobel Prize in Literature 1982

“A poet closer to death than to philosophy, closer to pain than to insight, closer to blood than to ink. A poet filled with mysterious voices that fortunately he himself does not know how to decipher.”

Federico García Lorca –Spanish poet, playwright, and theatre director ( 5 June 1898 – 19 August 1936) [quoted by Rene de Costa in “The Poetry of Pablo Neruda”]

“And you’ll ask: why doesn’t his poetry
speak of dreams and leaves
and the great volcanoes of his native land?
Come and see the blood in the streets.”

Pablo Neruda — I explain a few things

Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto (12 July 1904 – 23 September 1973), better known by his pen name and, later, legal name Pablo Neruda was a Chilean poet-diplomat and politician. PT/35(b) — An Overview of the Lockerbie Case [2018]

“Without PT/35(b), there would have been no indictment.”

Richard Marquise — FBI Agent who led the US side of the Lockerbie investigation

“The Lockerbie trial is the most disgraceful miscarriage of justice in Scotland for 100 years. Every lawyer who has read the judgment says ‘this is nonsense’. It is nonsense.”

Robert Black QC FRSE – Professor Emeritus of Scots Law in the University of Edinburgh and best known as the “Architect of the Lockerbie Trial”

“I regard the Lockerbie verdict against Megrahi as a ‘Grand Monument to Human Stupidity’.  Indeed, the written opinion of the Lockerbie judges is a remarkable document that claims an ‘honoured place in the history of British miscarriages of justice.’ If the SCCRC Commission accepts the application for a full review, the infamous Zeist verdict doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of surviving.”

INTEL TODAY — July 5 2017

PT/35(b) is a small fragment of a circuit timer that was allegedly found among the debris of Pan Am 103 near the town of Lockerbie.

After many years of studies, I have come to the conclusion that PT/35(b) is a forgery that was planted among the debris to implicate Libya in the bombing of Pan Am 103 and to steer the investigation away from the original suspects.

Perhaps you are not familiar with the Lockerbie case or your memory may be a bit fuzzy about this extraordinary affair that began three decades ago. Therefore, before discussing the properties of PT/35(b) and what it implies for the case, I have written a summary of the Lockerbie investigation and trial which you might find useful.

To mark the 30th Anniversary of the Pan Am 103 tragedy, INTEL TODAY will re-post one of our best Lockerbie stories every Wednesday until the end of the year. We would like to know what you think. Please, take this poll and encourage your friends to participate.

On This Day — The Beirut Barracks Bombings (October 23, 1983)

“Though he never said so explicitly, he [President Ronald Reagan] ended America’s military commitment to a strategic mistake that was peripheral to America’s interests. Three-and-a-half months after the bombing of the Marine barracks in Beirut that killed 241 U.S. military personnel — and after repeatedly pledging not to do so — Reagan ordered the withdrawal of all U.S. troops from Lebanon.”

Foreign Policy

“Beirut wasn’t sensible and it never did serve a purpose. It was goofy from the beginning.”

General Colin Powell

The Beirut barracks bombings were terrorist attacks that occurred on October 23, 1983, in Beirut, Lebanon, during the Lebanese Civil War when two truck bombs struck separate buildings housing United States and French military forces—members of the Multinational Force in Lebanon (MNF)—killing 241 U.S. and 58 French servicemen, six civilians, and the two suicide bombers. One Year Ago — COLD CASE : Who smeared Richard Feynman? [FBI FILES]

“The author repeatedly invokes Eisenhower’s name in awe and respect, and offers to swear either on a Bible or to the President himself. The author talks of Feynman’s “long hatred of Republicans,” but knows that Feynman registered as a Republican in 1956 — which the author believes to have been part of a long-game deception to infiltrate the government. The author could be faking it, of course, but it doesn’t read like that to me.”

Alex Wellerstein — The Nuclear Secrecy Blog

October 21 2017 — In March 2012, the website MuckRock filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to obtain and release Feynman’s full FBI file. Obviously, someone really did not like Feynman and told the FBI that he was a risk to the US National Security. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Belgium — World Top Arms Dealer Sentenced to 4 Years. Not Jailed for Now.

“The reason I’ll be released is the same reason you think I’ll be convicted. I do rub shoulders with some of the most vile, sadistic men calling themselves leaders today. But some of these men are the enemies of your enemies. And while the biggest arms dealer in the world is your boss – the President of the United States, who ships more merchandise in a day than I do in a year – sometimes it’s embarrassing to have his fingerprints on the guns. Sometimes he needs a freelancer like me to supply forces he can’t be seen supplying. So. You call me evil, but unfortunately for you, I’m a necessary evil.”

Yuri Orlov (Nicolas Cage) — Lord of War (2005)

Belgium (October 22 2018) — Last week, Jacques Monsieur, one of the most notorious arms dealer in the world, was  given a tougher sentence on appeal than he had received in his original trial. And yet, I find it very hard to believe that Monsieur will actually spend time in prison. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Lockerbie Conspiracy — Apartheid Foreign Minister Pik Botha Dies (UPDATE)

“Had he known of the bomb, no force on earth would have stopped him from seeing to it that flight 103, with its deadly cargo, would not have left the airport. The minister is flattered by the allegation of near omniscience.”

Botha’s spokesman Roland Carroll

“Had we been on 103 the impact on South Africa and the region would have been massive. It happened on the eve of the signing of the tripartite agreements.”

Pretorius Official Statement

On This Day — Pablo Neruda Awarded Literature Nobel Prize (October 21 1971)

“The Nobel Prize in Literature 1971 was awarded to Pablo Neruda for a poetry that with the action of an elemental force brings alive a continent’s destiny and dreams.”

Nobel Prize (Official website)

“Estranged to myself, like shadow on water,
that moves through a corridor’s fathoms,
I sped through the exile of each man’s existence,
this way and that, and so, to habitual loathing;
for I saw that their being was this: to stifle
one half of existence’s fullness like fish
in an alien limit of ocean. And there,
in immensity’s mire, I encountered their death;
Death grazing the barriers,
Death opening roadways and doorways.”

Pablo Neruda — The Poet (Edited and translated by Ben Belitt)

“I was an Argentine poet, he was a Chilean poet, he’s on the side of the Communists, I’m against them. So I felt he was behaving very wisely in avoiding a meeting that would have been quite uncomfortable for both of us.”

Argentine writer Jorge Luis Borges

“Today in #SpyHistory – The Nobel Prize for Literature was awarded to former KGB agent and Chilean poet, Pablo Neruda, 1971.”

The Spy Museum — Tweet (October 21 2018)

“If you would be a poet, create works capable of answering the challenge of apocalyptic times, even if this meaning sounds apocalyptic. You are Whitman, you are Poe, you are Mark Twain, you are Emily Dickinson and Edna St. Vincent Millay, you are Neruda and Mayakovsky and Pasolini, you are an American or a non-American, you can conquer the conquerors with words…”

Lawrence Ferlinghetti — From “Poetry as Insurgent Art”

Ricardo Eliécer Neftalí Reyes Basoalto (12 July 1904 – 23 September 1973), better known by his pen name and, later, legal name Pablo Neruda was a Chilean poet-diplomat and politician. Neruda was hospitalised with cancer at the time of the coup d’état led by Augusto Pinochet that overthrew Allende’s government. Neruda suspected a doctor of injecting him with an unknown substance for the purpose of murdering him on Pinochet’s orders. He died in his house in Isla Negra on September 23 1973, just hours after leaving the hospital. Parody — Jared Kushner Joins Saudi Royal Family

“They assured me they will conduct a complete, thorough investigation of all of the facts surrounding Mr. Khashoggi and will do so in a timely fashion. And that his report itself will be transparent.I told President Trump this morning that we ought to give them a few more days to complete that.”

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo

INTEL TODAY investigators suspect that this picture — discovered by Bellingcat researchers — may have been photoshopped. Firstly, it is no secret that Jared can’t grow a beard. But the whole story seems odd… According to a Middle East expert, “Keffiyah” has connotation of being more of a peasant’s garment. In the Gulf it’s a “ghutrah”. While similar, and not wrong in the technical sense, the social significance is very different. It’s weird to refer to the Saudi royals as wearing a kufiyah.

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA (October 21 2018) —In an effort to be completely transparent about his business deals, a bearded, keffiyeh-clad Jared Kushner announced Friday that he would avoid conflicts of interest by joining the Saudi royal family. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading
