On This Day — Operation Autumn Leaves (October 26 1988) // UPDATE

“Following the arrest of Dalkamoni and others […], it is possible to conclude that at least the core of the cell structure has been removed. It is not possible to say that all persons involved in the terrorist activities had been arrested.”

Germany — BKA Report (October 1988)

“Marwan khreesat and I had the first room on the right as you you come in the front door of Abassi flat and used it for work room for preparing the electronic appliances. Under my supervision and responsibility, Khreesat modified into bombs one Toshiba radio recorder, two tuners and one screen.”

Haffez Dalkamoni  — Interrogation by BKA officers (October 27 1988)

“I can not give you any further details regarding my involvement.”

Marwan Khreesat – Interrogation by BKA officers (October 27 1988)

“Having considered the evidence concerning these matters and the submission of counsel we accept that there is a great deal of suspicion as to the actings of Abu Talb and his circle, but there is no evidence to indicate that they had either the means or the intention to destroy a civil aircraft in December 1988.”

The Lockerbie Verdict, § 81

On this date in 1988, the German police arrested seventeen men at Neuss in operation “Autumn Leaves” (Herbstlaub). The bomb-maker of this terrorist cell had prepared several IEDs, including one hidden inside a Toshiba radio-cassette, which has never been recovered.

Some journalists — such as the late Private Eye’s Paul Foot — and several PA 103 relatives — including Dr Jim Swire — believe that it is too stark a coincidence for a Toshiba cassette radio IED to have downed Pan Am 103 just eight weeks after the arrest of the PFLP-GC cell in Frankfurt.

Here is a timeline of this operation which I compiled ten years ago to mark the 20th anniversary of the Lockerbie tragedy. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Lockerbie 30th Anniversary — A Litmus Test : Do You Read 21B or SIB?

“Special photography techniques were utilized on specimen K-1 to identify the number/letter “21B” which is contained within the figure of an oval. The number/letter appears in the upper left quadrant of the circuit board, within the lamination and not on the surface of the board. This identification was added during the manufacturing process, and may offer a code to identify the source of this board.”

FBI document (August 20 1990)

December 22 2018 — One may perhaps honestly confuse “MEBO” for “M580” or “MEBQ”. But why would anyone misread “SIB” for “21B” — when the “B” is asymmetrical — is puzzling to say the least. So ask yourself a simple question: What do you read? Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

One Year Ago — Havana Syndrome & Microwave Weapons: Q&A with Professor James Lin

“Whether or not a microwave weapon was the culprit, this stealth technique may be a weapon of the future. I would not be surprised if some military establishment around the world invests or has already been engaged in such a program.”

Professor James Lin — UIC

Professor James Lin

December 22 2017 — In October 2017, I suggested than a microwave weapon — and not sonic attacks — may be the cause of the “Havana syndrome”. Professor James Lin just published a paper on the possibility that the Havana syndrome might indeed be explained by a secret microwave weapon. Professor Lin has kindly agreed to review the known facts about this case and compare them to our current knowledge of ‘microwave weapons’.  Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Lockerbie 30th Anniversary — What do you think about the Lockerbie verdict? [Poll Result – December 21 2018]

“I regard the Lockerbie verdict against Megrahi as a ‘Grand Monument to Human Stupidity’.  Indeed, the written opinion of the Lockerbie judges is a remarkable document that claims an ‘honoured place in the history of British miscarriages of justice.’ If the [SCCRC] Commission accepts the application for a full review, the infamous Zeist verdict doesn’t have a snowball’s chance in hell of surviving.”

INTEL TODAY — July 5 2017

Robert Black QC FRSE – Professor Emeritus of Scots Law in the University of Edinburgh and best known as the “Architect of the Lockerbie Trial” — has written : “The Lockerbie trial is the most disgraceful miscarriage of justice in Scotland for 100 years. Every lawyer who has read the judgment says ‘this is nonsense’. It is nonsense.” Obviously, a few people agree. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Lockerbie 30th Anniversary — PT/35(b) : Who Made the Most Expensive Forgery in History? And Why?

“Could the CIA have planted the evidence? I don’t know. No one ever came to me and said, ‘Now we can go for the Libyans’, it was never as straightforward as that. The CIA was extremely subtle. For me the significant evidence came when the Scottish police made the connection with Malta. [Pressed for his own view, Fraser cites a Scottish murder case, that of Patrick Meehan, in which, it was alleged, the prosecution case had been “improved” by the planting of evidence.] Was there a similarity? I don’t know, but if there was one witness I was not happy about, it was Mr Bollier [Founder of MEBO], who was deeply unreliable.”

Lord Fraser — The Lord Advocate at the time that charges were brought against Abdelbaset Megrahi and Lamin Fhimah for the destruction of Pan Am 103

“A people always ends by resembling its shadow.” Rudyard Kipling

PT/35(b) is a small fragment of a timer circuit that was allegedly found among the debris of Pan Am 103 near the town of Lockerbie. After more than ten years of investigation, I have come to the conclusion that PT/35(b) is a forgery that was planted among the debris to implicate Libya in the bombing of Pan Am 103 and to steer the investigation away from the original suspects.

It is abundantly clear that the fragment PT35(b) did not come from a Thuring circuit board supplied to MEBO to fabricate the MST-13 timers delivered to Libya. Who made that forgery? And why?

We would like to know what you think. Please, take this poll and encourage your friends to participate.

As I explained in the last posts, it is abundantly clear that the fragment PT35(b) did not come from a Thuring circuit board supplied to MEBO to manufacture the MST-13 timers delivered to Libya. I have already told you how — and when — PT/35(b) was made. But, WHO  committed this crime? And Why? Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

One Year Ago — Former MI6 Chief : “Brexit Will Cause Loss of Influence”

“We have to acknowledge that Brexit is damaging our economy at the moment. (…) The EU solidarity issue is now in play and I am afraid we will lose it.”

Sir John Sawers — Former Head of MI6 (December 19 2017)

December 20 2017 — Sir John Sawers told MPs that Britain will need to figure out how to rebuild its economy after leaving the EU. The former MI6 Boss also explained that the UK will have to rebuild its  international standing. The first goal may not be unrealistic. The latter could turn out to be very tricky. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Was PUTIN Name Redacted From Flynn FBI 302 Just Released?

“Investigators have learned that Mr. Flynn and Mr. Trump’s son-in-law and senior adviser, Jared Kushner, took the lead in those efforts. Mr. Mueller’s team has emails that show Mr. Flynn saying he would work to kill the vote [on UN Resolution 2334].”

New York Times (December 1, 2017)

In January 2017, two FBI agents interviewed the then- US National Security Advisor Michael Flynn. On December 1 2017, Flynn pleaded guilty to making false statements to the FBI during that interview. On December 17 2018, at the request of Judge Emmet Sullivan, the Special Counsel’s Office released a redacted version of their report — known as a FBI 302 — regarding this event. I strongly believe that the word PUTIN was redacted in a key paragraph of that document. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

“Exactly the same forensic scientists who produced the wrongful conviction of Guiseppe Conlon, the Maguire family and of Danny McNamee, and had been stood down for the role they played. Yet here they were. Without them, there wouldn’t have been a prosecution, far less a conviction in Lockerbie.”

5G — Will European Countries Ban Huawei? [UPDATE : Czech Cyber Watchdog Calls Huawei a Security Threat]

“Perhaps, the most puzzling part of the [Belgian Intelligence Services] report is what it does not mention. Although most countries are extremely concerned about China investments in their Telecom infrastructure, the Belgian report is silent on this issue. Why, on earth, why?”

Intel Today – November 30 2018

“Given the massive cybersecurity and national security risks, the only responsible decision is for Berlin to follow the Australian, New Zealand, and U.S. lead and ban Chinese providers from the German 5G network. In doing so, Europe’s strongest economy would send a crucial signal to the rest of the European Union members that are grappling with the same decision.”

Thorsten Benner — Director of the Global Public Policy Institute in Berlin (December 9 2018)

“The UK needs to take decision on the extent to which we are going to be comfortable with Chinese ownership of these technologies.”

MI6 chief Alex Younger (December 3 2018)

“Huawei shares with the Chinese state intimate and extensive knowledge of the foreign telecommunications systems it is involved with.”

General Michael Hayden — Former head of the U.S. National Security Agency

The United States, Australia and New Zealand have already blocked Huawei from building their new 5G networks on security grounds. On Wednesday (Dec. 5), Britain’s BT Group said it would rip Huawei equipment from its core telecom network. Canada is also likely to ban Huawei. On Friday(Dec. 7), it was reported that Japan is expected to ban government use of products made by Huawei and ZTE over cybersecurity concerns. So, why on earth has Europe been silent on this critical issue for so long? What are they waiting for? I am afraid that it will all depend on Germany’s decision.
