It is however much less known that Lamarr was also an inventor who, along with composer George Antheil, patented a frequency-hopping system during World War II that presaged Bluetooth and Wi-Fi technology. KRYPTOS 30 Years Anniversary — SECTION III : A Transposition Cipher

With trembling hands, I made a tiny breach in the upper left hand corner… widening the hole a little, I inserted the candle and peered in… at first I could see nothing, the hot air escaping from the chamber causing the candle to flicker. Presently, details of the room emerged slowly from the mist, strange animals, statues and gold – everywhere the glint of gold. For the moment – an eternity it must have seemed to the others standing by – I was struck dumb with amazement, and when Lord Carnarvon, unable to stand in suspense any longer, inquired anxiously “Can you see anything?”, it was all I could do to get out the words “Yes, wonderful things”.

November 8 2020 — In a previous post, we looked at the inside story of the NSA people who took the challenge to decrypt — part of — the KRYPTOS code. I will tell you later how the NSA people broke Section III but today I will present a novel and rather unusual solution.

Why? Because I have great doubts that Sanborn — an artist — has used complex mathematical transformation to code Section III. Who cares? Does it matter anyway? One would think that as long as the solution is correct, the method used to get it is irrelevant. One could be wrong. The devil IS in the detail. On This Day — Able Archer 1983 : The Brink of Apocalypse (November 7-11, 1983) [2020]

“Information about the peculiar and remarkably skewed frame of mind of the Soviet leaders during those times that has emerged since the collapse of the Soviet Union makes me think there is a good chance—with all of the other events in 1983—that they really felt a NATO attack was at least possible and that they took a number of measures to enhance their military readiness short of mobilization. November 7 2020 — Able Archer 83 is the codename for a command post exercise carried out in November 1983 by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Coordinated from the Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Casteau, Belgium, it involved NATO forces throughout Western Europe. This exercise began on November 7, 1983 and ended on November 11, 1983. Today, many historians believe that the world almost came to a nuclear war on that week. November 7 2020 — On October 18, 1941, Richard Sorge was arrested in Tokyo. He was hanged on November 7 1944, at 10:20 Tokyo time in Sugamo Prison. A number of famous personalities — from General Douglas MacArthur to James Bond’s father and former MI6 Ian Fleming — considered him one of the most accomplished spies. KRYPTOS 30 Years Anniversary — History of the NSA Involvement
