Lockerbie — FAA investigating Boeing 787 manufacturing flaws. Coincidence? [UPDATE V : Boeing 747 loses several engine parts over Maastricht after explosion in one engine]

“The plane maker has told U.S. aviation regulators that it produced certain parts at its South Carolina facilities that failed to meet its own design and manufacturing standards, according to an Aug. 31 internal Federal Aviation Administration memo reviewed by The Wall Street Journal.”

The Wall Street Journal — Monday September 7 2020

September 8 2020 — New Evidence and Logic have led me to rewrite 30 years of History. In my book [Lockerbie — Three Decades of Lies: J’Accuse…!] I conclude that Pan Am Flight 103 disintegrated in flight over Lockerbie (December 21 1988) because of a massive structural failure due to well-known issues of metal fatigue in section 41 and 42 of the Boeing 747 (Series 100 & 200), not because of an explosive device. As a result of my research, I expected that the FAA would investigate similar Boeing manufacturing flaws as new generations of Boeing airliners may have inherited a mild form of that disease. It is happening. Coincidence? Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

Three Years Ago — BELGIUM : €10bn Missing From Gaddafi Frozen Accounts [UPDATE : LIA and Belgian government clash over frozen assets]

“Nobody is preoccupied with the question of where the funds have gone and who benefitted from them. What is surprising is that nobody wanted to see what was going on and everyone is shutting their eyes at a political level … This is an extremely serious problem as it could uncover a real state scandal.”

Robert Wtterwulghe — Law professor at UC Louvain University

February 20 2018 — Brussels, Belgium — After Gaddafi’s death in 2011, the U.N. passed a resolution to freeze his wealth, with the idea that it would be held in trust for the Libyan people until the war-shattered country stabilizes. Four separate accounts opened for the Libyan Investment Authority and Libyan Foreign Investment Company in the Euroclear bank held about 16 billion euros when they became ‘frozen’ under UN sanctions in September 2011. Today, there remains about 5 billion euros on these accounts. So the question is rather simple: Where did the €11 billion vanish to? Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today

2016 NOBEL PEACE PRIZE JUAN MANUEL SANTOS — Does Anyone Remember “Los Falsos Positivos”? [UPDATE : Peace Court: Colombia army killed 6,400 civilians and falsely passed them off as enemy combatants]

“We can call them ‘false positives’ or ‘extrajudicial executions’, but really these were cold-blooded murders. They were meticulously planned and carried by all ranks.”

Omar Rojas Bolaños and Fabian Leonardo Benavides — Blind Obedience in Fictitious Battlefields

santos
The 2016 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Juan Manuel Santos “for his resolute efforts to bring the country’s more than 50-year-long civil war to an end”.

October 8 2016 — Santos was named Minister of Defence on 19 July 2006. He resigned on 18 May 2009. In 2008 the ‘false positives’ scandal was uncovered.  Members of the military carried out extrajudicial executions in order to artificially increase the number of guerrillas killed by the Army and claim rewards from the government. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

On This Day — President Roosevelt Orders Internment of Japanese Americans (February 19 1942) [2021]

“The truth is — as this deplorable experience proves — that constitutions and laws are not sufficient of themselves…Despite the unequivocal language of the Constitution of the United States that the writ of habeas corpus shall not be suspended, and despite the Fifth Amendment’s command that no person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property without due process of law, both of these constitutional safeguards were denied by military action under Executive Order 9066.”

Former Supreme Court Justice Tom C. Clark — “Executive Order 9066: The Internment of 110,000 Japanese Americans”

On February 19 1942, US President Roosevelt signed executive order 9066 which allowed regional military commanders to designate “military areas” from which any or all persons may be excluded. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

20 Years Ago — FBI Robert Hanssen Is Arrested (February 18 2001)

“F.B.I. officials knew as far back as the mid-1980’s that Robert P. Hanssen, the longtime agent and convicted Russian spy, had repeatedly mishandled classified data and violated procedures but did nothing to prompt an investigation, a Justice Department report released today states. The report from the department’s inspector general provides many previously undisclosed details about how the F.B.I. missed numerous signals that could have led to Mr. Hanssen’s capture years earlier.”

New York Times (August 15 2003)

February 18  2021 — Robert Philip Hanssen is a former Federal Bureau of Investigation agent who spied for Soviet and Russian intelligence services against the United States from 1979 to 2001. His espionage was described by the Department of Justice as “possibly the worst intelligence disaster in U.S. history.” He was sentenced to 15 life terms without the possibility of parole. On This Day — USMC Col. William R. Higgins Is Abducted in Lebanon (February 17 1988) [2021 UPDATE — The Lockerbie X FILE]

“It clearly looked to me like the body was in what we call mummification, or early stages of mummification, which essentially means drying. Because of the drying certain areas become sunken like the eyes are sunken. If you look at the Higgins pictures, they certainly look that way. … I’m inclined to think he was dead before he was hanged.”

Dr. Werner Spitz — Professor of forensic pathology at Wayne State University

February 17 2020 — William Richard Higgins (January 15, 1945 – Unknown but declared dead on July 6, 1990) was a colonel in the United States Marine Corps who was captured on February 17 1988 while serving on a United Nations peacekeeping mission in Lebanon. He was held hostage, tortured and eventually murdered by his captors. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

5G Belgium — Chaos Across the Spectrum [UPDATE — French Regulator : “5G can interfere with aircraft critical instruments.”]

“The interferences caused to GSM-R receivers have been a very strong concern for Railway operators over the last years. Several cases of interference have been reported in various Member States, causing non-acceptable operational and even safety issues.”

EU Agency for Railways

May 31 2019 — Belgium’s telecoms regulator, the Belgian Institute for Post and Telecommunications (BIPT), has begun a public consultation to assess interest in using the 26GHz band for 5G services. Amazingly, the document does not say one word about possible interferences with — for instance — very important weather satellites. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

The Rise of the CFC — An Atmospheric Spy Thriller [UPDATE: Illegal CFC emissions from China have stopped]

“We were absolutely gobsmacked to find that Chinese  companies very openly confirmed using CFC-11 while acknowledging it was illegal. The fact that they were so blasé about it, the fact that they told us very openly how pervasive it is in the market, these were shocking findings for us.”

Avipsa Mahapatra — Environmental Investigations Agency

Data from an NOAA study shows that emissions of CFC-11 — as calculated using two different models — rose after 2012, even though production was supposedly phased out.  (NOAA)

May 18 2018 — A real life Dr EVIL is producing thousands of tons of a banned chemical, threatening the recovery of Earth’s badly damaged ozone layer. Scientists believe that industrial amounts of CFC-11 are illegally produced ‘somewhere’ in the Northern Hemisphere, perhaps in Eastern Asia since 2012. Notice the irony. Porton Down and OPCW scientists can trace the origin of a few nano-grams of ‘novichok’ to a Russian laboratory in just a few days. But, after 6 years, nobody has identified the production site(s) of thousands of tons of a life-threatening banned chemical. UPDATE (July 9 2018) — The culprits may have been identified; they are probably Chinese foam companies. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today

Havana Syndrome — At long last, CDC investigation reveals the exact sequence of events [UPDATE — STATE Dept. MEMO : CIA closed Station two weeks before US Diplomats departure]

“Sometimes it was the sudden onset of a loud noise leading to intense pain, while others felt pressure on the head leading to dizziness and vertigo. The sensations seemed to come from a particular direction in a specific location. This became known as Havana syndrome.”

Gordon Corera –BBC News

February 9 2021 — During his confirmation hearing, incoming US Secretary of State Antony Blinken committed to sharing more information about the “Havana syndrome” affair. Blinken also promised “accountability” if a state actor was responsible.  Four years down the Havana Syndrome mystery, we have finally obtained (from the CDC investigation) the exact sequence of events in Havana. And the timeline makes it quite clear what actually happened. I believe that, after just a bit of additional work, we may come to a reasonably safe conclusion very soon. On This Day — The St. Valentine’s Day Massacre (February 14 1929) [2021]

“All I ever did was sell beer and whiskey to our best people. All I ever did was supply a demand that was pretty popular. Why, the very guys that make my trade good are the ones that yell the loudest about me. Some of the leading judges use the stuff.”

Chicago gangster Al Capone

February 14 2021 — On Valentine’s day in 1929, the streets of Chicago ran with blood as the gangs of Al Capone and Bugs Moran battled to the death. This era had its very own language. Do you know what a “Chicago typewriter” is? And what is a “blond alibi” anyway? Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY
