CIA Memorial Wall — How many CIA officers died during Trump’s Presidency? [Disinformation]

“In 2016, the CIA memorial wall had 111 stars, each representing an agent’s death. By the end of Trump’s term, there were 135 stars on the wall, a huge 22% increase. 24 dead agents in just four years.
Under Trump, a FIFTH of all CIA deaths occurred. Under Biden, 5 deaths marked.”

“This year (2021) marks the beginning of a somber chapter in the legacy of the Memorial Wall. The Agency carved new stars for the first time above the inscription.” — CIA Press Release (May 25, 2021)

April 18 2024 – Let me say this once again: “You are entitled to your opinion. But you are not entitled to your own facts.” You may dislike Donald Trump, but lying about the CIA memorial Wall does not make you a patriot. “There are now 125 stars on our Memorial Wall, each representing a life that is dear to us, and will be for all time. We remain forever devoted to them, as they were to us.
And we will strive to make them proud of us, as we are of them.”

CIA Director Mike Pompeo
(May 22, 2017)

Donald Trump’s tenure as the 45th president of the United States began with his inauguration on January 20, 2017, and ended on January 20, 2021.

During the 2016 CIA Memorial Ceremony (May 23, 2016), four stars were added to the Wall, bringing the total to 117. (Rob Voreck is mistaken. The correct number is 117 and not 111!)

During the 2017, The CIA added 8 stars to the Memorial Wall. Eight stars in a single year is indeed a large number.

But the devil often hides in details. Keep in mind that 2017 marked the 30th annual memorial ceremony.

Three of these 8 stars honor CIA officers who died in 1961. Can you blame Donald Trump for their deaths?

118 — David W. Bevan (Aug. 13, 1961)

119 — Darrell A. Eubanks (Aug. 13, 1961)

120 — John S. Lewis (Aug. 13, 1961)

The fourth star honors Mark S. Rausenberger. Although the circumstances of his death remain classified, a notice from a funeral home in Virginia said Rausenberger died on May 23, 2016, while working in the Philippines. Can you blame Trump for his death?

121 — Mark S. Rausenberger (May 23, 2016)

Stars 122, 123, 124 & 125 are classified, but we know that Brian R. Hoke and Nathaniel P. Delemarre were shot on October 21, 2016, during an assault on an ISIS compound outside of Jalalabad, Afghanistan.

Hoke died immediately. Delemarre was wounded in his attempt to help and was evacuated to Germany, where he died. Let me ask again: Can you blame Trump for their deaths?

122 — Brian R. Hoke (October 21 2016)

123 — Nathaniel P. Delemarre (ca. October 21 2016)

During the 2018 CIA Memorial Ceremony, 4 new stars were added, bringing the total to 129 stars. All these stars (126, 127, 128 & 129) are classified.

On November 4, 2016, Matthew C. Lewellen, Kevin J. McEnroe and James F. Moriarty – all three members of the 5th Special Forces Group – were working for the CIA, training ‘moderate Syrian rebels’ (an euphemism for terrorists) in Jordan, when they were shot and killed on November 4, 2016.

On December 18, 2016 George A. Whitney was killed in the Jalalabad area of Afghanistan. Whitney was a former United States Marine Captain.

These four men died before the beginning of Donald Trump’s inauguration… The last ‘documented’ CIA memorial Ceremony held during Trump’s presidency occurred in May 2019.

During the 2019 ceremony, 4 new stars were engraved, bringing the total to 133 stars. (Again, Rob Voreck is mistaken. The correct number is 133, not 135!)

Stars 132 & 133 are classified, but the other two honor officers who died in Ethiopia on March 20, 1947. Again, can you really blame Trump for their deaths?

130 — Daniel Dennett (March 20, 1947)

131 — John Creech (March 20, 1947)

During the first ceremony held during Biden’s presidency (May 25, 2021), four new stars were added to the wall, bringing the total number of stars to 137.

For the first time ever, these stars were engraved above the inscription. Although the artists working for the CIA had long asked for doing so, all CIA directors had previously rejected their demand.

Let me conclude. During Trump’s presidency, the number of stars engraved on the CIA wall increased from 117 to 133. Not one of these known/declassified CIA officers died during Trump’s presidency!

This raises the following question. Did one CIA officer died in the line of duty during Trump’s presidency!

The answer is yes. Michael Goodboe was killed in combat in Somalia at the end of November 2020, during the last days of Trump’s presidency. His death occurred when the Trump administration was making plans to withdraw more than 600 troops from Somalia.

Finally, let me add that during the first 3 years of the Biden’s presidency, 7 stars — not 5 — have been engraved on the CIA wall. [2021 May 25 — 4 new stars; 137 stars, 2022 May 23 — 2 new stars; 139 stars, 2023 May 23 — 1 new star; 140 stars]

But keep in mind that approving a new star on the wall is very much a political decision. According to well-informed sources, a dozen of CIA officers/contractors have died in Ukraine in recent months.

Will the CIA honor their memory during the next ceremony which will also mark the 50th anniversary of the Memorial Wall? Don’t bet on it just yet…

By the way… Can you guess which presidency was the less dangerous for CIA officers? Which one was the deadliest? And finally, who was the first president ever to organize a press conference in front of the CIA memorial wall? The answers to these questions would probably surprise you!

  1. Jack says:

Surprising that Voreck neglected to mention that Trump, with Putin’s assistance, ordered the insurrection at Qala-i-Jangi and personally killed Johnny Spann.

    The TDS struggle is real.
