RussiaGate — Boris Johnson met the “London Professor”

“It’s all distinctly fishy. Boris Johnson’s relationship with the truth right now seems distinctly casual. We asked him about Russian interference in Brexit in the foreign affairs committee last week and he categorically denied he had seen a shred of evidence. I just thought ‘blimey’. Even as a junior minister in the foreign office, Russian stuff came across my desk every single day.”

Boris Johnson is facing questions about the government’s links to key individuals named by the FBI in its Trump-Russia investigation, following the emergence of a photo of him with Joseph Mifsud, the “London professor” with high-level Kremlin contacts. Follow us on TWITTER: @INTEL_TODAY

The UK foreign secretary is facing accusations of a potential security breach following the emergence of the photo of him with Joseph Mifsud, whose identity emerged as part of investigations into alleged links between Donald Trump’s election campaign and Russia.

“This development comes less than a week after Johnson denied meeting the professor, and at a time when concern is growing about possible Russian interference in the Brexit campaign, in which the foreign secretary played a crucial role.

Although the FBI had known about Mifsud’s role as a high-level go-between linking the Trump campaign and the Russian government since at least July, it appears British intelligence did not warn the foreign secretary about the potential embarrassment or security implications before he attended a fundraising dinner with Mifsud on 19 October.”  [The GUARDIAN]

Professor… At the “London Diplomatic Academy”

Last week, a reader of this blog sent me the following comments:

“I was interested to learn of the London Diplomatic Academy (LAD). I had not heard of it previously and this is unusual as I am very familiar with UK higher education training organisations in the UK.

A little investigation shows that LAD has been registered as a “dormant company” for more than 2 years. That is, LAD has not operated at all. The BBC discovered that it was no longer at its physical address in London and it no longer exists as a physical entity.

Photographs show that LAD was in an arrangement with the University of East Anglia and LAD’s business records at Companies House (the UK company register) show that LAD is owned by a company called INTO.

INTO is a private company set up to privatize major parts of UK state universities. INTO has major “partnerships” in a dozen or so UK universities, including Sterling (where Professor Mifsud is now based).

I don’t know what all of this means, but I wonder if money-laundering could be at the centre. It is alleged that Trump’s disgraced campaign manager was laundering huge amounts of money from Ukraine.”

In the US affidavit, Trump’s former advisor George Papadopoulos claims Mifsud — referred to as “Foreign Contact 1” — told him in April 2016 that the Russians had “thousands of emails” relating to Hillary Clinton.

According to members from the Institute of Global Studies in Moscow, Joseph Mifsud presented himself as someone who could build contacts to foreign universities and institutes.

In truth, Mifsud’s relationships with several academic institutions have “ended badly.” His resume from a London institution was subsequently deleted and his connection with the University of East Anglia was ended. And now, he has gone missing from a private institution in Rome where he was allegedly teaching.

PS: The woman introduced by Mifsud as “Putin’s niece” has no relation to Putin’s family whatsoever…

George Papadopoulos pleads guilty to lying to FBI

When then-candidate Donald Trump showcased his foreign policy team in March 2016, he called George Papadopoulos, a former Trump campaign adviser, an “excellent guy.”

Papadopoulos became the first person to plead guilty to charges stemming from the special counsel investigation into Russian meddling in the 2016 U.S. election.
