Three Years Ago — Havana Syndrome : Neuro-Weapons Behind Cuba Attacks? U.S. Intel Agencies Suspect Russia [UPDATE : Quick note on the BBC pseudo-investigation]

“I got a call from the State Department in February of 2017, and literally, the call was, ‘This is the State Department, we have a problem.’ They spoke to me about individuals who began experiencing symptoms late in 2016 with ear pain, ringing in the ear, dizziness and cognitive issues.”

Michael Hoffer — Otolaryngologist at the University of Miami

September 13 2018 — According to three unidentified U.S. officials and two other people briefed on the probe, Russia is the main suspect in the U.S. agencies’ investigation of mysterious illnesses in American personnel in Cuba and China. According to NBC, the U.S. military is trying to reverse-engineer the weapon used to harm the diplomats. I was the first person to suggest that the mysterious illness may have been caused by “microwave attacks” and I still believe it to be plausible. But I also think that the US investigators are on the wrong track. In my opinion, they have the wrong suspect and the wrong motive. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

“In the post-Cold War environment, a unified, consistent approach to deterring, reducing and countering weapons of mass destruction is essential to maintaining our national security.”

Defence Threat Reduction Agency

September 12 2021 — In the aftermath of 9/11, the US Defence Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA) left no stone unturned in their search for weapons of mass destruction. A ‘suspicious’ distillery on the island of Islay, Scotland, caught their attention. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

20 Years Ago — 9/11 and the Rumsfeld Test

“Are we capturing, killing or deterring and dissuading more terrorists every day than the madrassas and the radical clerics are recruiting, training and deploying against us? Does the US need to fashion a broad, integrated plan to stop the next generation of terrorists? The US is putting relatively little effort into a long-range plan, but we are putting a great deal of effort into trying to stop terrorists. The cost-benefit ratio is against us! Our cost is billions against the terrorists’ costs of millions.”

Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld

Crypto AG — Was Boris Hagelin Jr. Murdered by the CIA? [UPDATE : The Scandalous History of the Last Rotor Cipher Machine]

“Even the vice president of the BND assumed that Boris Hagelin Jr. was not the victim of an accident. It was an intelligence murder.”

Intelligence expert Erich Schmidt-Eenboom

February 15 2020 — A decade ago, I argued that Crypto AG had rigged the equipment used by diplomats around the world allowing US Intelligence Agencies to decode in real-time their messages. This week,  Swiss Media Group SRF Rundschau, German public broadcaster ZDF and the Washington Post have confirmed many details of the story after gaining access to a classified, comprehensive CIA history of the operation codenamed “Thesaurus” and later “Rubicon”. There are many issues to discuss. I will address them one at the time. In this post, I will review the suspicious circumstances regarding the death of Boris Hagelin Jr. just a few months after the Swiss Company was sold to the CIA. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

Five Years Ago — The Paris Attacks (November 13 2015) [UPDATE : At long last, the trial begins.]

“A jihadi loves a vacuum, as Syria demonstrates. Belgium as a state, and Belgium as the heart of the European Union are as close to a vacuum as Europe offers these days. (…) There is a vacuum. Vacuums are dangerous.”

Roger Cohen — The Islamic State of Molenbeek (The New York Times, April 11 2016)

“Americans have tolerance regarding other people’s opinion. In certain cultures, if you do not accept the mainstream, you would be booted out or might disappear. Here we have people, you know, who hug trees, and people who want to cut them down — and they live side by side!”

Viktor Ivanovich Belenko — Informal Interview (2000)
