It is a matter of fact that the American helicopters were on site within an hour and 25 minutes. It began back in December 1988, New Year’s Eve to be precise, when a police officer, a constituent and friend, came to me and said that he was very worried about so many Americans, on the awful site of Lockerbie, searching and rummaging through the wreckage, and possibly destroying important evidence.”

December 28 2021 — On December 28 1988, seven days after the Lockerbie tragedy, AAIB inspector Michael Charles announced that two pieces of metal recovered in the wreckage of PA 103 provided ‘convincing evidence’ of a detonating high performance plastic explosive. It was an enormous honor, and an equally enormous responsibility… I had not asked for this role; I had not asked for this mantle. But the forces of destiny and the forces of history had thrust me forward, and I felt privileged and awed.”

December 17 2021 — Dear Friends, Today (as a result of what is going on with Facebook) I decided to launch a new feature: The Intel Today ‘Random Thoughts’ page. Many readers send me their tips and suggestions through various media: Twitter, Facebook, blog comments and email. Thus, I believe that it would be helpful if all this information could be posted in one place. Once in a while, I will also post my own questions. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

James Risen — The Intercept (December 8 2018)
December 23 2021 — On December 15, 1975, a Senate committee opened hearings on whether George H.W. Bush should be confirmed as director of the Central Intelligence Agency. It was not going to be a slam dunk. When the CIA Chief of Station was assassinated on December 23 1975, Bush quickly rewrote the history of this tragedy for his own political advantage. And later, his lies became the “truth”. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today

May 31 2019 — Belgium’s telecoms regulator, the Belgian Institute for Post and Telecommunications (BIPT), has begun a public consultation to assess interest in using the 26GHz band for 5G services. Amazingly, the document does not say one word about possible interferences with — for instance — very important weather satellites. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY

There were revenge killings of British hostages organized by Libya, which I bitterly regretted. But the much-vaunted Libyan counter attack did not and could not take place. There was a marked decline in Libyan-sponsored terrorism in succeeding years.”

Reuters (July 30 2021)
August 10 2021 — FBI forensic scientists have estimated that around 552 tonnes of ammonium nitrate exploded on August 4 2020 in the Port of Beirut, much less than the 2,754 tonnes that arrived on a Russian-leased cargo ship in 2013. Reuters, The Guardian, and other MSM are reporting this nonsensical junk-science report without even consulting scientific experts. Let me be very clear. This is total nonsense.
