October 8, 2025 — A recently declassified CIA report from Biden’s 2015 visit to Kyiv shows Ukrainian officials quietly frustrated by what they saw as double standards on corruption. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today

Internal emails suggest Biden’s team preferred the report not be widely disseminated — a move that raises serious questions about the politicization of intelligence.

For a Vice President who repeatedly pledged never to politicize intel, the optics are striking.

Whether this was caution or control, the document highlights the delicate balance between diplomacy, transparency, and political optics in sensitive intelligence matters.

At the time, Ukrainian Prosecutor Viktor Shokin was investigating Burisma Holdings, a Ukrainian natural gas company.

In March 2016, several months later, Vice President Joe Biden successfully pressured Ukraine to remove Shokin.

Notably, Hunter Biden was serving on Burisma’s board at the time, earning tens of thousands of dollars per month.

Biden reportedly threatened to withhold $1 billion in U.S. aid unless Shokin was fired.

“I said, ‘You’re not getting the billion,’” Biden recalled telling then-Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko. “I looked at them and said, ‘I’m leaving in six hours. If the prosecutor is not fired, you’re not getting the money.’”

What was framed as anti-corruption diplomacy now raises questions about influence, oversight, and the cost of mixing politics with family business.
