2016 NOBEL PEACE PRIZE JUAN MANUEL SANTOS — Does anyone remember ‘Los Falsos Positivos’? UPDATE : Colombian army killed thousands more innocent civilians than previously reported

“Political satire became obsolete when Henry Kissinger was awarded the Nobel peace prize.”

Thomas Andrew Lehrer — American  satirist

“We can call them ‘false positives’ or ‘extrajudicial executions’, but really these were cold-blooded murders. They were meticulously planned and carried by all ranks.”

Omar Rojas Bolaños and Fabian Leonardo Benavides — Blind Obedience in Fictitious Battlefields

The 2016 Nobel Peace Prize was awarded to Juan Manuel Santos “for his resolute efforts to bring the country’s more than 50-year-long civil war to an end”.

Santos was named Minister of Defence on 19 July 2006. He resigned on 18 May 2009. In 2008 the ‘false positives’ scandal was uncovered.  Members of the military carried out extrajudicial executions in order to artificially increase the number of guerrillas killed by the Army and claim rewards from the government.

A new study co-authored by a former police colonel alleges that the practice was far more widespread than previously reported. The authors estimate that 10,000 civilians were executed by the army between 2002 and 2010 – more than three times the number tallied by human rights groups. Former CIA Ray McGovern : “The First Woman Picked to Lead CIA, But Not the First War Criminal”

“Haspel is not the first government official with involvement in torture, or other types of war crimes. This is a government with no accountability. But her hands are particularly dirty, having both run a secret CIA torture prison, and then covering up its felonies. Her nomination is a moral depravity.”

Jeffrey Kaye —  Retired psychologist and an independent journalist

Ray McGovern

May 8, 2018 — Last month, Ray McGovern was interviewed about CIA Director Nominee Gina Haspel.  The former CIA analyst finds it rather bizarre to discuss the exploits of the current CIA Acting Director, who in 2002 ran the secret prison where terrorist suspect was tortured. Gina Haspel faces a tough Senate confirmation hearing on Wednesday (May 9 2018). Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

One Year Ago — US/FOIA has failed to live up to expectations

“Almost everyone involved with the FOIA — requesters as well as agencies — seems to be dissatisfied with the way the process works. It can be excruciatingly slow, with response times often counted in years. Decisions to withhold information frequently appear arbitrary, excessive or otherwise inappropriate. The system is inequitable, as super-users who file hundreds or thousands of requests (and those who are able and willing to litigate their requests in court) consume disproportionate amounts of government resources, putting more occasional requesters at a disadvantage.”

Steven Aftergood — Secrecy News (May 08 2017)

“The U.S. Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) allows any person to request any agency record for any reason. This model has been copied worldwide and celebrated as a structural necessity in a real democracy. Yet in practice, this Article argues, FOIA embodies a distinctively “reactionary” form of transparency. FOIA is reactionary in a straightforward, procedural sense in that disclosure responds to ad hoc demands for information.”

David Pozen — Professor of Law at Columbia Law School

National Security Archive Sues CIA for Gina Haspel Torture Cables

“Expedited processing is clearly warranted in this instance, as Gina Haspel’s Senate confirmation hearing for CIA Director is slated for May 9.”

The National Security Archive

“My highly respected nominee for CIA Director, Gina Haspel, has come under fire because she was too tough on Terrorists. Think of that, in these very dangerous times, we have the most qualified person, a woman, who Democrats want OUT because she is too tough on terror. Win Gina!”

US President Donald Trump (May 7 2018)

Washington, D.C., April 27, 2018 – The National Security Archive filed suit under the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) against the CIA in federal district court in Washington. The case seeks 12 specific cables from November and December 2002 that were authored or authorized by Gina Haspel, the acting director of the CIA. The cables describe the torture of a CIA detainee under her supervision. On Friday (May 4 2018), those who oppose the confirmation of Gina Haspel almost got their wish as she indicated to White House staff her interest in withdrawing, reportedly fearing the Senate questioning could damage her reputation and the CIA’s. It was not until Saturday afternoon that Ms Haspel decided to remain the nominee. According to the Washington Post, some advisers have told Mr Trump that her confirmation is unlikely. Ten Years Ago — Dr David Fieldhouse and Lockerbie

“The presence of the team on Flight 103 is a clue that should not be ignored. It’s like the loose thread of a sweater. Pull on it, and the whole thing may unravel. The Mossad knew about it and didn’t give proper warning. The CIA knew about it and screwed up.”

Victor Marchetti — Former executive assistant to the CIA’s Deputy Director

“The presence of Mr McKee on PA103, along with certain others, appears to have been the focus of high level discussions between Senior Police, Security Service and American officials. It is clear that the American authorities were keen to recover any items that may have belonged to McKee in particular, which could be linked to their duties. It may well have been the case that certain items were not recorded in the normal manner to protect American interests …”

D&G letter dated 4 December 2006 — (JIG File X)

“In these circumstances the Commission believes not only that there may have been a miscarriage of justice in the applicant’s case, but also that it is in the interests of justice to refer the case to the High Court. The Commission accordingly does so.”

SCCRC 2007 Statement of Reasons — Final Conclusion

Major Charles – Chuck – Dennis McKee (December 3, 1948 – December 21, 1988) was an intelligence officer with the Defense Intelligence Agency stationed in Beirut, Lebanon. Chuck — also known as “Tiny” because of his height and bulk, 6’5″ and 270 pounds — spent the last ten years of an eighteen-year military career abroad. He was the recipient of numerous military merit awards including the Army Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal, and the Overseas Service Medal.

Last week (May 3 2018), Gerard Sinclair — the chief executive of the Scottish Criminal Cases Review Commission (SCCRC) — announced that the SCCRC will review the case of Abdelbaset al-Megrahi, the only man ever convicted for the bombing of Pan Am 103 over Lockerbie, Scotland. On May 7 2008, I posted the ‘strange story of Dr David Fieldhouse’. I believe that the story is still worth reading today. Follow us on twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

Book Review — An Inconvenient Death: How the Establishment Covered Up the David Kelly Affair

“Some people are natural conspiracy theorists. I’m not. Maybe this is a weakness — an indication of a readiness to accept the official version of events and not to see evil plots lurking in the background. But after reading Miles Goslett’s masterful book about the supposed suicide of the weapons expert Dr David Kelly in 2003, I am more persuaded than ever that the authorities have not told us the whole truth about this tragic case.”

Stephen Glover — April 28 2018

“We have lots of evidence … No coroner in the land would reach a verdict of suicide as Lord Hutton did.”

Dr Stephen Frost

The death of Dr David Kelly in 2003 is one of the strangest events in recent British history. This scrupulous scientist — an expert on weapons of mass destruction — was caught up in the rush to war in Iraq. He felt under pressure from those around Tony Blair to provide evidence that Saddam Hussein was producing weapons of mass destruction. Dr Kelly seemed to have tipped into sudden depression when he was outed as a source for Andrew Gilligan. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading

Parody — Michael Cohen Wiretap Cold Open (SNL)

“I know you don’t believe in climate change but a storm’s a coming baby.”

US porn star Stormy Daniels

“Guys can we please just decide on one lie and stick to it because our stories are all over the place.”

Michael Cohen (Ben Stiller)

May 5 2018 – Saturday Night Live — With the FBI listening in, Michael Cohen (Ben Stiller) fields calls from Donald Trump (Alec Baldwin), Rudy Giuliani (Kate McKinnon), Melania Trump (Cecily Strong), Ivanka Trump (Scarlett Johansson), Jared Kushner (Jimmy Fallon) and Stormy Daniels. One Year Ago — “Journalists for Hire : How the CIA Buys the News”

“I’ve been a journalist for about 25 years and I was educated to lie, to betray and not to tell the truth to the public. The truth will come out one day, the truth won’t die.”

Dr. Udo Ulfkotte — German Journalist and Whistleblower

May 6 2017 –In 2014, German journalist Udo Ulfkotte, former director of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, author of the book “Gekaufte Journalisten”, (Journalists for Hire), denounced European media who write lies under pressure from the CIA. An English translation will be available on May 15 2017. Follow us on Twitter: @INTEL_TODAY Continue reading

Trump Aides Hired Israeli Spooks

“The idea was that people acting for Trump would discredit those who were pivotal in selling the [Iran nuclear] deal, making it easier to pull out of it.”

Unnamed source

“These are extraordinary and appalling allegations but which also illustrate a high level of desperation by Trump and [the Israeli prime minister] Benjamin Netanyahu, not so much to discredit the deal but to undermine those around it.”

Jack Straw — Former UK foreign secretary

Last May, Trump aides made contact with a private Israeli intelligence firm to dig ‘dirt’ on former Obama administration officials and journalists who supported the nuclear deal with Iran. Follow us on Twitter: @Intel_Today Continue reading
