ANALYSIS by retired Col.  Patrick LANG

Donald Trump’s decision to launch cruise missile strikes on a Syrian Air Force Base was based on a lie.  In the coming days the American people will learn that the Intelligence Community knew that Syria did not drop a military chemical weapon on innocent civilians in Idlib. Here is what happened.

  1. The Russians briefed the United States on the proposed target. This is a process that started more than two months ago. There is a dedicated phone line that is being used to coordinate and deconflict (i.e., prevent US and Russian air assets from shooting at each other) the upcoming operation.
  2. The United States was fully briefed on the fact that there was a target in Idlib that the Russians believes was a weapons/explosives depot for Islamic rebels.
  3. The Syrian Air Force hit the target with conventional weapons. All involved expected to see a massive secondary explosion. That did not happen. Instead, smoke, chemical smoke, began billowing from the site. It turns out that the Islamic rebels used that site to store chemicals, not sarin, that were deadly. The chemicals included organic phosphates and chlorine and they followed the wind and killed civilians.
  4. There was a strong wind blowing that day and the cloud was driven to a nearby village and caused casualties.
  5. We know it was not sarin. How? Very simple. The so-called “first responders” handled the victims without gloves. If this had been sarin they would have died. Sarin on the skin will kill you. How do I know? I went through “Live Agent” training at Fort McClellan in Alabama.

There are members of the U.S. military who were aware this strike would occur and it was recorded. There is a film record. At least the Defense Intelligence Agency knows that this was not a chemical weapon attack. In fact, Syrian military chemical weapons were destroyed with the help of Russia.

This is Gulf of Tonkin 2. How ironic. Donald Trump correctly castigated George W. Bush for launching an unprovoked, unjustified attack on Iraq in 2003. Now we have President Donald Trump doing the same damn thing. Worse in fact. Because the intelligence community had information showing that there was no chemical weapon launched by the Syrian Air Force.

Here’s the good news. The Russians and Syrians were informed, or at least were aware, that the attack was coming. They were able to remove a large number of their assets. The base the United States hit was something of a backwater. Donald Trump gets to pretend that he is a tough guy. He is not. He is a fool.

This attack was violation of international law. Donald Trump authorized an unjustified attack on a sovereign country. What is even more disturbing is that people like Secretary of Defense Jim Mattis, CIA Director Mike Pompeo and NSA Director General McMaster went along with this charade. Front line troops know the truth. These facts will eventually come out. Donald Trump will most likely not finish his term as President. He will be impeached, I believe, once Congress is presented with irrefutable proof that he ignored and rejected intelligence that did not support the myth that Syria attacked with chemical weapons.

It should also alarm American taxpayers that we launched $100 million dollars of missiles to blow up sand and camel shit. The Russians were aware that a strike was coming. I’m hoping that they and the Syrians withdrew their forces and aircraft from the base. Whatever hope I had that Donald Trump would be a new kind of President, that hope is extinguished. He is a child and a moron. He committed an act of war without justification. But the fault is not his alone. Those who sit atop the NSC, the DOD, the CIA, the Department of State should have resigned in protest. They did not. They are complicit in a war crime.

Now the question becomes what was Trump told? How much truth did he know? And of course when did he know the truth? Whoever advise him to do this needs to answer the same questions.

My understanding is that the 4 page “white paper” issued by the WH blaming Assad was authored by the WH National Security Staff. I assume McMaster is their boss, and controlled what information got to Trump. It would seem the only way for Trump to save his Presidency at this point would be to make all of this public and demand the resignation of anyone involved with writing it, including McMaster, then offer the job of NS Advisor to one of the VIPS. He should also investigate Mattis to determine what he knew and when he knew it.

Hmm, after a little more reading I guess my assumption was wrong. McMaster is likely not at fault except for not insisting that Pompeo be at the decision making meeting. Robert Parry reports that Pompeo told Trump that the CIA thought Assad had not conducted a CW attack, but was not present at the meeting where it was decided to attack the Syrian AB. If Pompeo can prove he alerted Trump, Lang is correct and Trump should be toast. If not, Pompeo may be toast.

Even if he was lied too, there is the fact the committed an act of war, essentially declaring war. Which he has no legal authority to do. This shows a blatant disregard for the law or a true ignorance.

What threat Syria is to the US. They are actually fighting ISIS/Al Qaeda. Which (we’ll forget for a moment the US involvement in founding/funding/training of ISIS) is an enemy that we are currently at war with. This is aiding and the enemy, which is treason. Like in Libya when we aided Al Qaeda and Al Qaeda linked forces there.

Then there is real question is would you send you, your children or grandchildren to die there? We cannot or will not win a war of any significance. Here of lately we have fought in an areas and then turned over that area to an enemy (Libya to Al Qaeda and Iraq to Iran). We given up when we sustain 4000 dead in 10 years. A fight with Russia or China will result in 4000 dead in one day in a hard fight. They are not a bunch of backwater Bedouin that are ill equipped and in small numbers.

This is funny because it disagrees with the US Army’s book, “The Medical Aspects of Chemical Defense.” You’re right: Sarin on the skin will kill you. But it evaporates quickly. There is also a significant time lag between dermal exposure to nerve agents and the onset of symptoms. This is why Kim Jong-Nam could walk around the Malaysian airport after being smeared with VX. It’s also worth noting that simple, fast, self-decontamination can mitigate the severity of poisoning. So the Sarin residues on the skin of a patient, once removed from the contamination zone, are unlikely to poison medics.

Well put DDTea👍… for a moment one can get excited and perhaps support these illegal US invasion of other people’s lands but when you really sit down and analyse the atrocities, crimes and damage the US government caused in this world it is simply impossible to comprehend oe see the whole picture and all in the name of the so called war on terror.

What terror? Who is the biggest terrorist in this world? Who went thousands of miles away from homeland all the way to Vietnam and bombed and screwed up the whole country upside down? How many chemical weapons, poison gases did the US use in Vietnam?
Who went and dropped atomic bomb at Hiroshima? Who went and invaded Iraq, Libya, Syria etc etc? What did these nations did to the US to react in such a barbaric and inhumane way??

If US really wanna solve problems in this world president Reagan, Bush, Obama and Trump would and should start their internal chaos by banning civilians owning and buying weapons like pack of crisps. US has the world highest crime rate with people shooting eachotther every minute why bother travelling thousands of miles away to middle East or Africa when people are getting shot in your own backyard? That’s really not clever.

Then you have millions of Americans who can’t afford medical insurance and so can’t access the medical services they badly need but yet US government have money and resources to send troops across the globe to fight endless wars.
It is crazy to me and hard to contemplate for any layman let alone educated and intelligent folks sitting around US president who are supposed to serve as president advisors.

US really need a proper presidents not these hypocrite puppets who are only there to serve their hidden agendas and secret mission.
      Enough is enough

I noticed you mentioned the people that cannot afford health insurance and do not have access to medical services. That is no true whatsoever. If anyone goes to an emergency room they can get medical attention.

I have seen a lot of people that “could not afford” health insurance. By I do notice they have the money for tobacco, alcohol, soda, junk food, smartphones with data and cable/satellite TV. Most that “cannot afford” can afford, they just do not have their priorities strait. Most choose not work or take advantage of the programs to benefit themselves.

Now to the Constitution question. Where in the Constitution does it grants the government to provide any social program? You say you cannot contemplate someone acting like the advisors of the President. How are they anymore wrong that the people that think the government has the right to do something that it is not legally allowed to do or make slaves of those that work so they can provide for those that choose not to?

Who do you think these guns are ‘stolen’ or bought from without a licence?
The amount of robberies and break in’s.
Guns are too readily available and everyone is so ready for WAR!
Do you not realise what these two trigger-happy, spoilt little rich boys are playing at?
They’ll stay in their safety zones protected by only the best, while us civillians and army personnel give their lives!
What world are we leaving for our children?
        The violence needs to end!
The extremists (of ALL sides in this war) need to stop!

    • I was just getting ready to respond when I saw your post DDTea. You hit the nail on the head. This guy’s statement here totally reveals his lack of credibility on the issue. I was a chemical officer in the Army and went through the same live agent training. I was also an instructor at the US Army Chemical School. For this guy to use that fact that he went through the live agent training, which is pretty simple training that even Army privates go through, as proof that he knows all about chemical agent effects is laughable. That training is simply meant as a confidence builder- making soldiers believe their chemical protective equipment works. It is extremely “canned” training that I personally believe is of little value. Irrespective of my opinion of that training, it certainly does not give any indication of expertise. Sarin is a “non-persistent” agent. It is a liquid that quickly evaporates, and therefore is usually effectively defended against with a protective mask- i.e. it kills by being inhaled. It is possible to get it from someone’s clothing and through skin absorption, depending on how thick the vapor was, or how close they were to the explosion, but it is unlikely, and certainly not a situation where one could say with certainty that “they would have all died.”

Since you mentioned VX, I should note that they are not the same thing. VX is a more potent and much more persistent agent with much less volatility, and therefore little to no vapor. Also, the effects can be pretty fast, not long delayed, but that depends on the how much lethal agent a person is exposed to. I lethal inhaled exposure can show symptoms quickly and kill within minutes, but lower levels of exposure could be much delayed and not as obvious- such as many first responders who suffered secondary exposure during the Tokyo attacks.

There are a lot of supposed “experts” out there who are full of sh**. There are plenty of retired LTCs who were of marginal competence when they were in the military, and who just aren’t very smart. In short, they are frauds who milked the military pay system for 20 years, somehow managing to avoid being kicked out, but who did not command respect form their peers. Then they get out and run around telling everyone what super hero experts they are. Those who were never in the military don’t usually know enough about it to call Bullsh** on them.

Tom Angle, that’s a completely false, repetitive and stigmatising comment. Not ALL people who receive benefits or cannot work- have the latest iPhone/drink/smoke. And those who do- you don’t know their story.
And I’m not about to start to debate this topic when it clearly does not have anything to do with the topic at hand.
You’ve turned a post about War and those in charge- into your own little vendetta about people who receive benefits.

I do know most of their stories by the way. Poor life choices coupled with the it is always someone else fault that I am the way I am. If you care to go we can to the the local Walmart and see first have the habits of those that illegally leach off the system.

Tom, I think the US has enough drama going on, without bringing in the lack of funded medical care, agreed.
But if you consider how much more they waste in bombing other countries, military spending, and defence resources due to the amount of wars they choose to start- welfare recipients wouldn’t even touch the sides of defence spending!

And as much as I’d like to take a trip to America one day- I’m in Australia so I can’t see Walmart and its customers.
But I am familiar with the videos of the ‘people from walmart’.
Maybe if your govt spent more resources on mental health services, free healthcare for all, and services to provide assistance to those looking for work- maybe then the US wouldn’t have such problems.

You Tom Angle most probably don’t know what you are talking about or turning ignorant to the reality on the ground just like your master Trump.
It is no secret that millions of American citizens do not have access to medical services and millions more are homeless or unbelievably poor.

You pointed out that all US citizens receive emergency medical services but I guess you forgogt the bill that drop in the letter box when you get out of hospital. You don’t call that free services do you?

And yet this so called super power nation is prepared to go thousands of miles across the globe to liberate the oppressed… that’s very clever.

A responsible government would first and foremost look after its citizens especially when it comes to medical and welfare issues regardless they are rich or poor. Let alone this big and super rich country which was supposed to do way beyond that but fails to even meet basic requirements of its own citizens.

Here Mr Tom Angle you have agreed with me that the most discriminating nation in the world is USA because it doesn’t regard those out of employment or poor as same citizens like others.
We can go on and on debating on this subject and believe me you will come back to the same conclusion and it is that simple ” USA is led by blindfolded leaders” and it’s getting worse as years go by.

“But here’s a little secret from 20 years of teaching and doing research in the neurosciences: trust the biology.  It doesn’t matter what the politicians and CIA, and MSM, and OPCW, and WHO say, if the biology does not show a sarin attack, then there wasn’t a sarin attack. And in the case of sarin, the biology — meaning symptoms and  the absence of symptoms — is not debatable, certainly when there are multiple supposed-victims. If the videos did clearly show victims exhibiting the symptoms of sarin intoxication, my position would be somewhat less certain because most of the symptoms of sarin poisoning can be easily faked. But when the videos FAIL TO SHOW the diagnostic symptoms of sarin, then you know two things: 1) it was not sarin, and 2) the terrorists were too stupid to fake the sarin symptoms.”

    The OPCW does not agree?

“OPCW Fact-Finding Mission Confirms Use of Chemical Weapons in Khan Shaykhun on 4 April 2017
    Friday, 30 June 2017
THE HAGUE, Netherlands — 30 June 2017 — In a report released by the Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the OPCW Fact-Finding Mission (FFM) confirmed that people were exposed to sarin, a chemical weapon, on 4 April 2017 in the Khan Shaykhun area, Idlib Province in the Syrian Arab Republic.
The FFM’s mandate is to determine whether chemical weapons or toxic chemicals as weapons have been used in Syria; it does not include identifying who is responsible for alleged attacks. An advance team for the FFM was deployed within 24 hours of being alerted to the incident. For security reasons, the FFM was unable to visit Khan Shaykhun. The rapid deployment to a neighbouring country, however, enabled the team to attend autopsies, collect bio-medical samples from casualties and fatalities, interview witnesses and receive environmental samples.”
